Hands-on experience with replication and high availability setups (e.g., Streaming Replication, Patroni, Pgpool-II, etc.)
Knowledge of Linux administration and shell scripting for database automation
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Must be local to New Jersey and available to work onsite
We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our client's team in New Jersey
This role requires a local candidate who can work onsite and take ownership of the administration, optimization, and maintenance of PostgreSQL database environments
The ideal candidate will have expertise in database performance tuning, replication, backup & recovery strategies, and high availability configurations
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases in on-premises and/or cloud environments
Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and reliability
Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to prevent data loss
Manage database security, including user access controls, auditing, and encryption
Design and implement database replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions
Perform database migrations, upgrades, and patching as needed
Work closely with development teams to optimize SQL queries, indexing, and schema design
Automate database maintenance tasks using scripts and database tools
Troubleshoot database-related issues and resolve performance bottlenecks
Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory requirements

• Desired Skills : Administers, manages, and monitors all systems, including databases, in development, test, stage, and production environments.
• Design and implementation of Postgres databases, high-availability solutions, replication, encryption, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Working experience with Postgres in AWS is must.
Requirements:
• 2+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in an enterprise environment with 10+ years of overall DBA experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PostgreSQL certification is a plus.
