Job profile
Power supply design architect/ DC-DC convertor architect for Defense, Railways
Roles:
· Technical Lead in Power Supply Design:
o Lead the development of power supply solutions, including DC-DC converters, for various applications (e.g., automotive, aerospace, industrial, consumer electronics, etc.).
o Act as a subject matter expert for power supply systems and architecture.
·System Architecture Development:
o Define the overall system power architecture and ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and reliability.
o Provide strategic direction for the integration of power supply designs into the system.
·Research & Development:
o Innovate new topologies, technologies, and control methods to improve power efficiency, density, and thermal performance.
o Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in power electronics.
·Collaboration:
o Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, firmware, PCB layout, thermal, and mechanical teams.
o Engage with vendors for component selection and customization.
·Compliance & Standards:
o Ensure designs comply with industry standards such as EMI/EMC regulations, safety, and efficiency certifications (e.g., IEC, ISO, Energy Star, etc.).
o Lead failure analysis and root cause investigations for power-related issues.
Responsibilities:
• Power Supply Design:
• Design and simulate high-efficiency power supplies, including DC-DC converters (buck, boost, flyback, forward, SEPIC, etc.).
• Specify and validate the selection of components such as MOSFETs, diodes, transformers, inductors, and capacitors.
• Performance Optimization:
• Optimize power conversion efficiency, power density, transient response, thermal performance, and overall system reliability.
• Address challenges such as noise, ripple, EMI/EMC, and thermal dissipation.
• Prototyping & Validation:
• Develop prototypes and conduct lab testing to validate performance against specifications.
• Use tools like oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and power analyzers for design validation.
• Control Systems:
• Design and implement control algorithms (e.g., voltage-mode, current-mode, digital control).
• Tune loop stability parameters and ensure robust performance across various operating conditions.
• Documentation:
• Create detailed design documentation, including schematics, layout guidelines, test procedures, and design reports.
• Maintain design databases and ensure traceability.
• Troubleshooting & Support:
• Provide technical support during product integration and production.
• Address design issues, resolve bugs, and implement design improvements as necessary.
• Leadership & Mentorship:
• Mentor junior engineers and guide them through the design process.
• Conduct design reviews and provide technical feedback.
• Project Management:
• Manage power design projects, from requirements gathering to production release.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery.
• Skills & Experience
Mandatory
• Knowledgeable in Electrical circuit analysis, filter designs/ configurations, etc.
• Design and simulation of power supplies DC/DC Convertors
• Design and control of power supplies
• Thermal design experience
• Testing experience of power supply power supplies, DC/DC convertors
• Mil std 810 and Mil Std 461 experience
• Delivered at least two quailed products to military
• 10 + experience in design ,development, testing and qualification of power supplies, DC-DC Convertors
• Preferred
• Embedded C experience
• MATLAB and Mathcad experience
• Part of software qualification of power supplies
Qualifications:
Mandatory :- B tech (Electrical or Electronics and communication)
Preferred :- MTech, PHD in power electronics
