About your team / Ko te tima

Inspector Training and Development provide a centralised framework for inspector capability and progression to support workforce planning that aligns with the WorkSafe strategy.

We also develop and deliver training so that our inspectors have the necessary capability to deliver on our core role as a health and safety regulator.

About the role / O te turanga

The Inspector Training & Development team plays a key role in enhancing capability across the Inspectorate by aligning its training initiatives with WorkSafe Mahi Haumaru's strategic priorities, measuring the outcomes of learning interventions to ensure they meet expectations.

The role also supports the Manager of Inspector Training & Development in managing important internal and external relationships and fosters continuous improvement in regulatory practices and inspector capability.

What You'll Do/ Ko tou ake mahi

This role provides strategic advice and thought leadership to the Manager of Inspector Training & Development, particularly in the areas of capability and learning across Operations and the Inspectorate.

It leads the design and development of a sector-based capability framework by collaborating with stakeholders to identify skill gaps and risks, contributing to cross-organisational projects, and ensuring the timely delivery of evidence-based, learner-centric training materials. The role also oversees the development, testing, and piloting of content in partnership with technical experts and subject matter specialists.

In addition, this role acts as a key influencer across internal and external stakeholders, including the Operations Senior Leadership Team, and plays a proactive role in coaching and mentoring team members to enhance the overall capability of the Inspector Training & Development team.

What you'll bring / Ko nga pukenga ou

Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant experience in a similar role
Demonstrated experience in designing adult capability development frameworks, preferably in a regulatory environment, along with experience in educational governance
Experience in alignment of development programmes with NZQA qualifications
Proven experience in strategic workplace skills design, development, and implementation, and the use of design tools, such as, but not limited to Articulate 360, Figma and FigJam.
Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills with proven ability to work with and through others, including frontline staff, senior leaders and stakeholders

Salary range / Awhe utu

As part of our remuneration framework the full salary range for the position is from $127,488 to $168,60+, and our expected starting base salary for the right person is from $138,45 to $143,+37 Note: KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contribution is additional to/on top of your base salary.
