Role Overview

We’re looking for a Principal Backend Engineer to lead the design and development of key systems that power both the consumer experience (personalization, search, recommendations) and the supply chain (inventory, routing, fulfillment, lastmile). This is a highly strategic role for someone who can think end-to-end, connect business needs to technical decisions, and drive scalable architecture in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

???? Consumer Experience & Personalization

- Design scalable, low-latency systems that power homepage, product carousels, and dynamic promotions.
- Build real-time personalization and recommendation platforms using customer interactions, session data, and ML signals.
- Collaborate with data science to serve contextual recommendations, ranking algorithms, and customer segmentation.
- Architect APIs and services that support multi-tenant, multi-device user experiences with high reliability.
- Capture behavioral signals and build infrastructure for event-based personalization and nudges (e.g., abandoned cart, repeat prompts).

⚙️ Supply Chain, Fulfillment & Inventory

- Lead the engineering for platforms managing cluster-based inventory, demand-supply sync, pricing rules, and order orchestration.
- Drive automation and intelligence in procurement planning, production ops, batch tracking, and cold-chain management.
- Optimize for scalability, uptime, and fault-tolerance across multiple fulfillment nodes and delivery partners.
- Build platforms that support real-time availability, dynamic SLA promises, and last-mile routing decisions.
- Integrate with logistics, ERP, and analytics systems to create a seamless supply-demand loop.

Tech Stack

- Languages: Java (Spring Boot)- Mandatory, Python/Golang- Good to Have
- Eventing & Streaming: Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Datastores: MySQL, Redis, MongoDB
- Infra & Observability: Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch
- ML/Recommendations: AWS Personalize, in-house ML APIs, feature stores- Good to Have

What We’re Looking For

- 7 to 10 years of backend engineering experience with strong fundamentals in distributed systems and large-scale architecture.
- Solid understanding of streaming systems, caching, queuing, and performance tuning for low-latency.
- Ability to partner with data science, product, business, and design to deliver impact-driven platforms.
- Experience working in high-growth, multi-disciplinary environments with product-market complexity.
- Passion for clean code, mentoring engineers, and raising the bar across teams.
- Deep experience building consumer platforms (e.g., search, personalization, real-time APIs) and supply systems (e.g., inventory, logistics, pricing) is good to have.
