This is your opportunity to play a role in supporting Queensland border communities in the newly established Office of the Cross-Border Commissioner.

As a Principal Project Officer you will support the Commissioner in resolving border-related issues and leveraging opportunities to make a difference in people’s lives. No two days will be the same as you support border communities from the south and southwest to the state’s northwest.

About The Role

The Principal Project Officer role in the newly established Queensland Office of the Cross-Border Commissioner offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact. You will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, including communities, businesses, Queensland government and organisations to analyse and resolve critical cross-border issues. This is a chance to be at the forefront of problem solving and policy development, ensuring seamless operations and strong relationships across Queensland's borders. Key Accountabilities

Contribute to the development of strategic policy documents, initiatives, and the provision of expert advice in relation to cross border regulatory, legislative and policy gaps.
Work collaboratively with other Government agencies to assist in the preparation of the Cross-Border Commission program list of actions and be responsible for development of a contribution to relevant components.
Undertake options analysis activity and contribute to the preparation of program and project prioritisation frameworks.
Assist in the preparation of reports, submissions, briefing notes, presentations, publications and correspondence and documents and related planning and assessment frameworks and project prioritisation.
Liaise across the department and government, when required, in progressing the necessary deliverables, and assist the Cross-Border Commissioner in their consultation and negotiation with representatives from other State agencies, Australian Government agencies, Government owned corporations, local governments and other key stakeholders.
Assist in the identification of emerging program issues and provide advice to the Cross-Border Commissioner as it relates to cross-border outcomes for people, businesses and government agencies.


Role Requirements

There are no mandatory requirements for this role however, a minimum of two years' experience in a similar role as well as an understanding of Government processes, particularly as they relate to the preparation of submissions, reports and briefings and internal and external (stakeholder) consultation would be highly regarded.
Travel may be required on occasion. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation.


About You

You bring strong experience in a similar role, with expertise in government processes, submissions and briefings. Your skills in research, policy analysis and stakeholder consultation are complemented by your ability to develop performancebased reporting frameworks. Self-motivated and able to work independently, you effectively engage with a wide range of stakeholder including government leaders and first nations communities.
