Salary: Clerk Grade 11/12 $145,378 to $168,130 per annum. Salary is negotiable based on skills and experience.


Your Role


As a Principal UX/UI Designer in the Digital Customer Experience Team (DCX) at the Department of Communities and Justice, you will lead a team of designers to deliver accessible, user-centric digital experiences for NSW Courts and Tribunals.


This senior leadership role will shape the future of digital service delivery, ensuring alignment with human-centered design principles and the Digital.NSW design system.


What You’ll Do


Lead end-to-end UX/UI design across discovery, prototyping, and iterative development.

You’ll collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver impactful digital solutions.

Ensure accessibility, usability, and brand alignment across all digital touchpoints.

Drive innovation and continuous improvement in service and product design.

Manage complex work packages and contribute to business case development and investment planning.

What We’re Looking For


A strategic thinker with deep experience in UX/UI design, service design, and digital product development.

Proven leadership in managing design teams and delivering high-impact digital solutions.

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.

Expertise in agile methodologies, human-centered design, and accessibility standards.

Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in UX/UI or related fields.
