Job Description

Role Overview :

Daskalos Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (‘Daskalos’ or ‘Institute’) seeks an experienced legal professional to oversee privacy legal, compliance, internal audits, and operational privacy management for its physical campuses across India. The candidate will report to the group’s Global Data Protection Officer, who reports to Daskalos’ General Counsel. This role will involve exposure to Daskalos’ cross-functional teams and external partners, including universities, clients, and vendors.

This role will support the Institute's data privacy program, ensuring compliance with Indian and global privacy laws and regulations, including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2026.

Key Responsibilities :

Senior Associate, Privacy Legal and Compliance will be responsible for the coordination and management of data privacy issues and risk across Daskalos’s operations.
• Develop and implement campus-wide privacy compliance strategies in accordance with Indian data protection laws (the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2026) and relevant international regulations.
• Conduct regular privacy and data protection audits across all campuses; identify risks, recommend, and track remediation measures.
• Coordinate with operational teams to ensure robust processes for the compliant handling of student, lead, faculty member, and employee personal data, and provide legal and strategic advice on privacy issues.
• Draft, review, and update privacy policies, procedures, and notices tailored for educational settings.
• Review and negotiate customer and vendor contracts (which includes drafting and negotiating data processing agreements i.e. DPAs).
• Conduct privacy impact assessments.
• Organize and deliver ongoing privacy awareness and training for employees and faculty members.
• Respond to data subject requests and complaints concerning data privacy.
• Monitor regulatory updates and sector trends to ensure the prompt adoption of necessary operational changes.
• Support incident management, data breach response, and communication with regulatory authorities.
• Monitor developments in global regulations, legislature, and privacy best practices, and advise on the need and rationale for changes required within the Institute.

Qualifications :
• Minimum 4 years of privacy or compliance experience, with exposure to audit and privacy operations. Experience in the education sector or campus operations is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Indian data privacy laws and global regulatory frameworks.
• Law degree (LL.B.) from a recognized university.
• CIPP / CIPM certification (or equivalent) preferred.
