About this role:
The Human Resources (HR) Procedure Management team is seeking a Procedure Writer. This team is responsible for organizing and managing the procedural documentation for HR. Critical thinking, decision making, strong communication, consulting, problem solving and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, ever-changing environments are critical capabilities for this role.
In this role, you will:
• Participate in establishing documentation guidelines and procedure audits
• Review regulatory changes or partner with regulatory change agents to proactively identify required updates
• Maintain document library or repository and update tables in appropriate systems
• Review changes to business operations for potential impact to other documentation or resources
• Create, edit and format moderately complex to complex internal manuals, materials, or other documentation related procedures and policies
• Publish moderately complex web content in accordance to standards
• Present recommendations for resolving moderately complex to complex problems and projects
• Assist others to resolve process gaps, providing input and suggestions based on observations
• Research, review and translate technical information to users
• Provide guidance to less experienced staff
• Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
• Partner with subject matter professionals to understand business needs as it relates to procedures
Required Qualifications:
• 2+ years of Procedure Writing experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Technical Writing
Desired Qualifications:
• Intermediate knowledge of Open Text and other web-based content management
• Experience with Jira.
• Experience building partnerships and consulting effectively with leadership
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities
• Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) skills
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques
• Virtual leadership experience with ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in a geographically dispersed team environment
• Ability to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability
• Technical Writing, experience researching, developing, writing, and editing operational procedures and documents
Day to Day Operations:
To begin the procedure writer will learn how to publish procedures. This includes both new procedures and updates to currently published procedures:
• Open a request in Jira for procedure publishing. In the Jira request there will be instructions for where to publish the new procedure or updating a currently published procedure. There will be word document attached of the new procedure or updated version.
• They will copy and paste the content into the editing software, CK Editor. When content is copied into the editor all formatting is lost, so the publisher will reapply formatting. This includes bullets, indenting, and creating tables.
• The employee will make updates in the enterprise content management system to provide document information including which department owns the procedure and when it should be certified in the future.
• After everything has been entered into CK Editor and WEM the procedure is published in Open Text.
