Mō te tūranga | About the role

Work with the Procurement Lead in this newly created role to assist to deliver our Sustainable Procurement strategy.

Analyse and evaluate procurement data and develop reporting to identify trends, insights and opportunities for cost savings.
Evaluate our key strategic suppliers and how we engage with them, building strong partnerships.
Assist to drive collaboration between cross-functional stakeholders for the development and execution of Council-wide sourcing strategies to identify cost savings and value for money opportunities.
Provide procurement support and advice to internal stakeholders.
Compliance audits and reporting, ensuring compliance with procurement policies.
Build system knowledge to be the subject matter expert for our procurement systems.

Mō te tangata | About you

Demonstrated knowledge of procurement best practice, with experience in similar procurement roles in complex organisations.
Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
Analytical and numerical capability – manage data, provide analysis and insights
Critical thinking – ability to use data and research to make effective procurement recommendations.
Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Be highly motivated, innovative, curious and open to new ways of doing things.

Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience

6 – 8 years’ experience in similar procurement roles within complex organisations
Tertiary qualification in business, economics. Data analytics

Reporting to the Manager Business Advisory Services, you will work within the Finance and business services directorate, which supports the Waikato Regional Council mission through the provision of a broad range of professional services.
Procurement is a centre led function and this role works closely with the Procurement Lead and will act as backup for the Procurement Lead in periods of absence
