Who you are?
The Production Scheduler is responsible for the effective planning, coordination, and scheduling of laboratory workflows to ensure timely completion of analysis, optimal resource allocation, and adherence to quality and safety standards. This role liaises closely with laboratory supervisors, technical staff, and clients to align operational priorities with business objectives.
Some of your tasks may be:
As Production Scheduler, some of your tasks will be, but not limited to:
Develop, maintain, and communicate daily and weekly laboratory production schedules based on client demand, sample receipt, and operational capacity.
Coordinate sample throughput across multiple departments to ensure turnaround times are met.
Monitor progress of laboratory work orders, identify bottlenecks, and make adjustments as required.
Collaborate with supervisors and team leaders to manage workloads and reallocate resources where needed.
Ensure accurate data entry and tracking of work orders in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Communicate scheduling updates and potential delays to internal stakeholders and clients as needed.
Forecast workload trends and contribute to staffing/resource planning.
Participate in daily operational meetings to align production goals with department capabilities.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workflow efficiency and scheduling accuracy.
What will you bring to the role?
Essential:
Proven experience in production scheduling or operations planning, preferably in a laboratory or technical environment.
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with multidisciplinary teams.
Proficiency with scheduling tools and laboratory information systems (e.g., LIMS, ERP).
High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Desirable:
Qualification in Laboratory Science, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
Experience in mining and engineering and/or laboratory operations.
