The Role
The Project Accountant should be tech savy with a strong understanding of accounting processes and procedures. This position entails working within a large professional services organisation, supporting various internal finance projects to foster continued growth and drive our digital transformation journey.
This role is perfect for someone looking for diverse, hands-on project work and offers the opportunity to collaborate with various stakeholders and build strong relationships across the team to effectively deliver project requirements.
The Service Line (About)
The Finance Team provides comprehensive financial support and guidance across the entire business. We service both client-facing teams and other shared services teams, ensuring that all financial aspects are managed efficiently and effectively with the appropriate level of controls. Our team is committed to driving financial performance, enhancing reporting capabilities, and building strong relationships across the organisation. To support a large organisation on an ambitious growth target, the finance team need to ensure robust internal controls are maintained whilst supporting continuous automation of financial operations.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Support the Project and Systems Manager in effectively achieving project outcomes.
Assist with the adoption and integration of advanced technology to automate processes.
Analyse and understand finance business processes to identify and implement areas for improvement and efficiency.
Develop and maintain process maps to document and improve financial workflows and procedures.
Preparation of and updating process and policy documentation.
Provide training and support to the finance team upon project completion as needed.
Manage and optimise financial systems to ensure efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting and data management.
Skills/Attributes Required
Strong communication skills with ability to translate technical requirements.
Ability to work to deadlines and adopt a measured approach in pressured situations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Driven, dynamic and adaptable to a changing environment.
Curious mindset with a willingness to adopt new technologies to automate tasks.
Act as bridge between finance and IT teams.
Qualifications And Experience Required
2+ years of experience in a commercial finance environment.
A relevant degree with a major in accounting or IT.
Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong experience in Power Query.
Strong knowledge of the finance function and dependencies to finance systems.
Experience with Workday and Power BI highly desirable.
