ACCESS (Advancing Childhood Cancer Experience, Science & Survivorship) is a new CIHR-funded initiative (lead institution SickKids) to build a national childhood cancer strategy that will change the way children's cancers are researched and treated. The mission of ACCESS is that every child with cancer in Canada has access to the latest scientific advances, diagnostic tools, therapies and supportive care leading to better outcomes and a better quality of life. ACCESS includes clinicians, researchers, survivors, patient advocates and other stakeholders from across Canada who have diverse experience and expertise.

We are currently seeking a Project Manager to join our team. In this role you will be key members of the ACCESS Secretariat and will be responsible for a broad range of administration and coordination activities to facilitate the implementation of the ACCESS themes, groups, projects, consortium-building and engagement work.

Reporting to the Director of ACCESS and working closely with the ACCESS Secretariat Team and ACCESS stakeholders nationally, the Project Manager will help manage the day-to-day operations of the initiative, support ACCESS staff and the theme, group and project leads of ACCESS, facilitate the activation and conduct of research projects, and maintain partnerships with collaborators across Canada. The Project Manager position require proactive and action oriented individuals with excellent organizational, interpersonal, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.

KEY TASKS:

Organize and facilitate regular ACCESS Theme/Group or project meetings; prepare meeting minutes and identify action plans
Support the activities of the Themes/Groups and/or projects by following up on action items, facilitating meetings, preparing materials, and providing logistical support
Act as the primary liaison between the ACCESS Theme/Group Co-Leads and the ACCESS Program Manager, Director and Executive Director
Provide support to the ACCESS staff and Theme/Group Co-leads in preparing grant applications, new research proposals, abstracts, presentations and manuscripts
Help organize Network-wide meetings and other ACCESS meetings
Help file and monitor expenses
Prepare annual and other required reports to partner organizations and funding agencies/institutions
Assess data capture needs for Themes/Groups and their projects
Maintain knowledge of protocols, procedures and policies
Help organize scientific meetings/conferences
Contribute to the development and collection of metrics used to measure Network success

QUALIFICATIONS:

At minimum, a completion of a Master's degree program or recognized equivalent in a health- or science-related discipline with a minimum of three years of experience in project management.
Formal training in program management (PMP) is desirable.
A certification as a clinical research associate (e.g., SOCRA accreditation) would be an asset.
Proven ability to work with great efficiency and to perform multiple concurrent tasks
Possess leadership and managerial skills and have recognized experience in these areas
Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate effective communications with other team members and to communicate with external collaborators and users.
French language skills considered an asset
High computer proficiency, familiarity of Microsoft 365 tools/apps (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.), virtual meeting/conference programs (i.e., Zoom, Teams, etc.), scheduling and surveying tools (i.e., Doodle, Calendly, Microsoft Forms, Survey Monkey, etc.), and data sharing tools and data capture is desirable (i.e., REDCap, Microsoft Forms, OneDrive, etc.)
Strong conflict resolution, team building, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure and pay attention to detail
Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to institutional standards
Knowledge of applicable legislative, Hospital for Sick Children and/or departmental policies is considered an asset

Employment Type: Full-time temporary 1 year contract with possible extension
