Description
citizenM is looking for a highly motivated and accountable Project Manager to lead post-opening hotel projects, including maintenance, refurbishments, and strategic improvement projects. You will manage multiple work streams, ensure timely, on-budget delivery, and uphold citizenM standards. Preferred experience in hospitality, real estate, or facilities. This role serves as a key connection between local teams, the support office, and vendors to support hotel performance and deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Support management of all project phases—from planning to closeout—ensuring performance and alignment with operational goals.
Define project requirements with internal teams (Operations, HPM, Procurement) and external partners (vendors, consultants, contractors).
Prepare scopes, plan resources, and execute contracts in line with policies and timelines.
Oversee on-site execution with minimal guest disruption, managing risks and operational impact.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards on all job sites.
Run and organize project meetings and manage communications to keep stakeholders aligned and informed.
Provide support to internal and external teams, ensuring accountability and collaboration.
Project closeout: handover to your Team, Manager, and Operations, update all as-built documentation, review and share key learning points.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Bachelor / Master’s degree in construction, engineering, architectural (interior) background or equivalent by experience in design / build / construction / technical projects, etc.
Relevant project management experience is required, with hospitality, real estate or retail experience preferred
A passionate leader who brings enthusiasm to work and sets the stage for an inspired performance by his/her/their project team
You have an interdisciplinary and creative mindset, are focused and persistent and have an end-to-end commitment
You have experience with complex projects where various stakeholders need to come to a joint solution.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong team player with excellent organizational and coaching skills
Ability to effectively and timely present reliable information
Ability to make clear agreements and negotiate with suppliers and other third parties
Must be guest service focused and understand the expectations of hospitality demands
Affinity with an Agile and/or Lean approach of project management is a plus
You have the knowledge of country specific health and safety legislation (safety rules, safety awareness information, procedure manuals)
Location and hours:
This position will be based in the New York office, hybrid work is possible but not fully remote.
This is a full time position
Travel is involved, according to the number and location of projects
