Job Summary
This position is part of the Bureau of School Health, which works to ensure that all students have access to safe and healthy environments in schools.

The Public Health Advisor will work under the supervision of the Public Health Nurse Level III and collaborate with PHN Level II to collect and transmit medical records from assigned schools to the Central Health office.

Key responsibilities include:

Creating and updating school health records
Establishing and maintaining working relationships with school personnel
Ensuring that students' equipment is functioning and properly used, and maintaining adequate storage of students' medication
Transcribing medical information as received, assisting self-directed students with their own medication
Documenting observations on the Medication Logs and students' medical records
Performing simple first aid
Participating in agency-wide activities for Emergency Preparedness
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by twelve semester credits in health education or in health, social or biological sciences; or
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, and six months of full-time satisfactory experience in a health promotion or disease intervention/prevention program, performing one or more of the following: interviewing, conducting field investigations, assessing health risks, making referrals, or collecting and analyzing epidemiological data;
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and four years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in the above experience requirement;
Education and/or experience equivalent to the above requirements;
