We are searching for a junior or Intermediate Quality Control Technician to join our team. You will be based out of our Victoria, B.C. construction materials testing laboratory. The daily work locations for this position will be a mix of field and laboratory environments - with daily visits to active construction sites, aggregate processing facilities and hot-mix asphalt plants. PPE is required and supplied.

This is a permanent, full-time position.

Job responsibilities include:

- Sampling and testing road construction materials (aggregate / asphalt) in accordance with ASTM/AASHTO standards.

- Laboratory/Field test data entry and evaluation to ensure constructions materials meet quality standards

- Assist with asphalt mix designs. We are a CCIL certified lab.

- On-site compaction testing/monitoring with nuclear density gauge (must complete nuclear safety training program).

- Troubleshooting on-site project quality problems.

- Preparing QC reports (MS Excel/Word), including EPS reports for MoTI projects..

Additional work time/location requirements:

- Travel to our other Island divisions may be required throughout the year. LOA is provided.

- Weekend and night shifts are sometimes required (typically during summer season)

Qualifications Desired:

- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology

- Registration (or eligible for) with Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC (ASTTBC)

- minimum 2 years of experience working in the construction materials field (sampling & testing construction aggregates and asphalt concrete)

- Current CCIL certification and/or other relevant certifications are an asset

- Must have valid class 5 BC driver’s license

- First Aid certification an asset
