Job description
The Quality Control Lab Technician (QC Lab Technician) is responsible for sampling, testing, recording, and analyzing lab results as part of the technical services team. The materials being tested range from raw material resins, roll stock film retain samples and converted bag samples. The QC Lab Technician provides technical support to ensure effective and efficient lab function while adhering to product quality, security, and safety guidelines outlined in the company’s ISO and BRCGS certifications.
Responsibilities
Performs product quality inspection by quantitative and qualitative analysis as per the company quality control plan to validate product specifications and to ensure that they meet customer quality requirements.
Performs laboratory material property testing such as Tensile Strength, Impact Strength, Tear Strength, Coefficient of Friction, Film Thickness, Gloss, Opacity, Haze, Melt Index, and Film Color Measurements.
Records lab test results in the data entry system.
Works closely and communicates efficiently with operators for any non-conforming product to find a solution together.
Reports any quality non-conformities in the plant in the internal non-conformity system
Prepares product Certificate of Analysis documents and sends them to the designated customers.
Circulates on a routine basis in the plant to gather and test incoming raw material resins, film retained samples, and converted bag samples.
Identifies, organizes, and files all gathered retained samples as per the lab retain sample control plan in the archive.
Maintains cleanliness, organization, and methodical and systematic flow within the lab environment at all times
Requirements
Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role
Experience in a manufacturing environment (asset)
Relevant university degree (asset)
Strong attention to detail and ability to apply quality control standards rigorously
Ability to navigate and effectively use an ERP system
Well-organized with a methodical approach to work
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet testing frequency requirements
Effective communication skills with machine operators
Strong team spirit and ability to build positive working relationships
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
