Real Estate Law Clerk

Horton & Horton is a full-service law firm in Owen Sound, Ontario that has been serving clients in Bruce County, Grey County and beyond for 85 years. We are looking for someone to join our outstanding, hard-working team.

We are currently hiring a Real Estate Law Clerk.

Responsibilities include:

Independently opening purchase, sale and mortgage transactions in RealtiPlus including, but not limited to, ordering Tax Certificates and Title/Execution Searches;
Contacting and following up with clients for required information;
Using Lawyer Done Deal, RealtiPlus, Teraview, EReg, LEAP, FCT, Stewart Title, Microsoft Office, electronic mortgage platforms, zoom meetings and Docusign;
Preparing and calculating final ledgers and amounts due from and owing to clients;
Preparing reporting letters/accounts to clients and lenders promptly following the completion of files;
Ensuring all monies are properly billed and secured;
General administrative duties and assisting with reception and other office tasks as needed;
Attending bank and lawyers’ offices to close transactions;
Ensure undertakings are fulfilled on completed files; and
Preparation of Law Society documentation for private mortgages
The successful candidate will: have outstanding attention for detail; willingness to learn and work as a team; familiarity with MS Office; experience with accounting software, Conveyancer/Unity/LDD and other legal software and dictation preferred. Prior work experience in a professional office environment.

Compensation commensurate with experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
