Location: Hastingwood, Essex
Salary: £31,663.80 – £37,637.25 per annum depending on experience (inclusive of 5% High-Cost Area Allowance) plus Enhancement. Pro rata for Part Time.
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our clients multidisciplinary team providing specialist palliative care. The role involves leading shifts in an Inpatient Unit (IPU) with eight single, en-suite rooms dedicated to symptom management and end-of-life care.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide high standards of specialist palliative care to patients and their families.
• Lead shifts and maintain high standards of care across the IPU.
• Conduct holistic assessments of patient and family needs, plan and implement appropriate interventions, and evaluate their effectiveness.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the multi-disciplinary team to ensure coordinated and continuous care.
• Support patients and families through grief, loss, and the life-changing consequences of a palliative diagnosis.
• Work across a 24-hour service, including weekends, nights, and bank holidays as required.
• Supervise and support junior colleagues, volunteers, and students on the IPU.
• Participate in the education and development of colleagues, and mentor new staff members and students.
• Act as a role model, providing encouragement and motivation to colleagues.
• Ensure a safe environment and promote evidence-based practice.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
• Registered Nurse with a valid NMC PIN.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Understanding of the needs of patients receiving palliative and end-of-life care.
Desirable:
• Experience in a palliative care environment.
• Specialist qualification in palliative care.
• Experience in teaching or presenting.
Skills and Abilities:
• Strong assessment, planning, and evaluation skills for complex patient needs.
• Ability to lead a team and manage shifts effectively.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Ability to motivate the nursing team and handle the demands of a palliative care environment.
Personal Qualities:
• Positive attitude and commitment to equality, diversity, and the aims of the organization.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including nights and weekends.
