The Robotics Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of robotic and automated systems. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on robotic equipment, as well as collaborating with engineering and production teams to minimize downtime and improve system efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



Preventive Maintenance:

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on robotic systems, including lubrication, calibration, and inspection of critical components.
Monitor robotic wear and tear, replacing consumables like grippers and seals as needed.
Maintain logs and records of all maintenance activities.


Troubleshooting and Repairs:

Diagnose and repair faults in robotic systems, including mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues.
Replace defective components such as motors, encoders, sensors, and controllers.
Collaborate with engineers to resolve complex technical problems.


System Optimization:

Identify and report opportunities to improve robotic system performance and reliability.
Assist in adjusting robotic programs and configurations to address operational challenges.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance automation efficiency.


Installation and Upgrades:

Assist in the installation and setup of new robotic systems and components.
Implement upgrades to existing robotic equipment, including firmware and hardware updates.
Collaborate with engineering teams during commissioning of new robotic cells.


Safety and Compliance:

Ensure all robotic systems comply with safety regulations and company standards.
Inspect safety interlocks, emergency stops, and guarding to ensure proper functionality.
Report and address any safety hazards promptly.


Documentation:

Maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.
Update maintenance schedules and documentation to reflect system changes.
Provide feedback to improve maintenance procedures and manuals.


Training and Support:

Assist in training operators and junior technicians on robotic system operation and basic troubleshooting.
Provide technical support to production teams during robotic system operation.
Plan and perform predictive, preventive, and reactive maintenance.
Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on robotic systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
Use schematics, hand tools, electrical gauges and common test equipment for calibration, diagnosis, and repair or maintenance of equipment.
Troubleshoot technical issues, diagnose problems, and implement solutions to resolve equipment malfunctions efficiently.
Collaborate with engineers and other team members to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements.
Perform other related duties as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Ability to perform electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics, machinery rebuilds, reconditioning, and modifications of an advanced nature.
Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
Excellent communication - both verbal and written.
Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment while adhering to company policies, quality policies, and industry standards.
Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to maintenance emergencies as needed.
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to demonstrate a high sense of urgency.
Strong troubleshooting skills.
Education and Experience:

Associate degree or technical certification in robotics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
2-5 years of experience working with robotic systems in a maintenance or technician role.
Strong knowledge of robotic programming, troubleshooting techniques, and maintenance procedures.
Familiarity with various types of robotic equipment, such as articulated arms, automated assembly lines, and industrial robots.
Proficiency in reading technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
