About Our Partner Organisation

Don Bosco Technical Institute is an organization which is open to young people who are technically inclined and are ready to commit themselves to change. They offer technical education based on reason, religion and kindness and are focussed on training a generation that is able to fulfil the expectations of a variety of trades and industries.

They support the education and development of young people by involving them in decision-making and extra-curricular programs. The institute is overseen by a principal who is a graduate of the institute. While they are confident teaching trades there are areas that could be improved on such as staff development, curriculum review and renewal, and general leadership skills.

What You’ll Do

As a VSA Volunteer, you'll immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the Solomon Islands as you mentor the principal of the Institute. You will give them the skills and confidence to lead well and work alongside them as they engage with staff to review the structure and content of current courses. More generally, you will also support and mentor the principal to develop their leadership skills, helping them to communicate effectively, lead the team, and reflect on actions and practices.

Your Skills and Experiences

Masters level qualification in Education
Experience in adult curriculum development
Proven experience in mentoring at senior management level
Familiarity with unit standards
