About the Role:
Caloundra City Private School, located in Pelican Waters on the Sunshine Coast, is looking for a Secondary Mathematical Methods Teacher who is ready to make a real impact. Our approximate one-year-level, one-class structure allows for personalised learning in a way that larger, more traditional schools can’t match. You’ll have the freedom to innovate, design creative learning experiences, and truly make this role your own while contributing to the larger strategic vision of the school.
With a small, agile team, we can quickly adapt and change, creating dynamic and exciting learning opportunities for our students. We’re seeking someone who’s passionate about transforming Secondary Math & Maths Methods into something students can connect with, both academically and in terms of their future careers.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Personalised and Innovative Teaching: Deliver Maths Methods lessons that are tailored to individual student needs, using project-based learning to make mathematics relevant and engaging. You’ll have the opportunity to design your own curriculum within our flexible and supportive environment.
Industry Engagement: Lead industry visits to show students how maths is applied in the real world, from technology to engineering and beyond. Help students make the connection between classroom learning and their future aspirations.
Compliance and Syllabus Mastery: Confidently navigate the QCAA Mathematical Methods endorsement and confirmation process. You’ll be expected to manage the compliance requirements independently, ensuring your teaching aligns with the intricacies of the syllabus, though we do have a supportive team to assist.
Student-Centred Growth: Serve as a mentor for your students, supporting both their academic growth and personal career goals. Help them see the real-world applications of what they’re learning and inspire them to aim high.
Collaboration and Agility: Work closely with our small team, which has the flexibility to quickly adapt and create new, exciting learning experiences. You’ll be an integral part of shaping the school’s approach to Maths Methods, while also contributing to the broader strategic direction of the school.
Data-Driven Instruction: Use data and insights to adapt your teaching and ensure every student is progressing. The small class sizes allow for deep engagement and personalised feedback.
Engaging Learning Environment: Build a classroom culture where students are active participants in their learning, using inquiry-based and hands-on approaches to spark curiosity and problem-solving skills.
What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in education with a focus on Mathematics or equivalent. Masters or post-graduate degree preferable.
Currency in your field: Examples of how you have maintained your professional learning against the AITSL standard and the network you have developed to support your mathematical knowledge capital.
Project-Based Learning Experience: Experience or a strong interest in project-based learning to bring real-world relevance to maths education.
Industry Engagement: Ability or willingness to engage with industry partners to connect classroom learning with real-world applications.
QCAA Compliance Expertise: A strong understanding of the QCAA Mathematical Methods syllabus, with the ability to independently manage endorsement and confirmation processes.
Commitment to Personalised Learning: A passion for student-centred teaching and helping students achieve both academically and personally.
Agile and Innovative: You’re adaptable and creative, excited to be part of a small, nimble team that can quickly evolve and innovate.
Great Communication Skills: Able to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners, ensuring a supportive and collaborative environment.
Why Work With Us?
