Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
Males born after 12-31-5+ must be registered for Selective Service.
This is a bargaining unit position.
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep +6) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1+68. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards.

Qualifications

GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level . Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access; 2) Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/credentials; 3) Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity; and 4) Maintaining desk logs, desk journals, and pass-down logbooks to document security events. General experience must demonstrate the following: Experience such as administrative, technical, clerical, military, or other work that involved following written procedures, rules, or regulations in contacts with coworkers, supervisors, or members of the public to provide a service, respond to inquiries, or obtain information.

The following education may be substituted for specialized experience:

GS-04: 2 years above high school.

GS-03: 1 year above high school.

If qualifying based on education you must provide a copy transcripts.

Additional information

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.

Several vacancies may be filled.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Call back and emergency overtime maybe requirements of this position.

Work may include assignment to train second, third or rotating shifts or weekend and holidays.

If selected below the full performance level, you may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed.

Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
