Job description
We are looking for an efficient Sr. Accountant/Payroll Administrator to join our team who will be responsible for all aspects of managing employee salary data, ensuring timesheets are accurate and payments are made on time. This position will be accounting centric along with payroll responsibilities. Payroll Administrator responsibilities include managing all aspects of payroll, and they must accomplish required tasks promptly. The accountant portion would be General Ledger Management, AP & AR, financial reporting, Tax Preparation and planning for sale and resale business, cash flow mgtm, process improvement, etc...

Being a small company, we need someone who is self-motivated and willing to take on additional support functions as bandwidth allows. For example, managing our MBE certifications across different states.

Location: Travel distance in and around Chicago area or within an hour distance from South suburbs. Remote position but must be able to travel to work and meet with business leaders 2 times per month.

Hours: Full Time 8am-5pm. Start date-ASAP

Responsibilities
• Administer payroll for employees
• Prepare reports for weekly, quarterly and yearly reviews
• Review and abide by company policies and procedures
• Make sure account balances are correct
• Resolve payroll errors
• Calculating payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings and deductions
• Managing electronic timekeeping systems or manually collecting and reviewing timesheets
• Providing information and answering employee questions about payroll-related matters
• Payroll Administrator identifies and implements process improvements
• Audit and review information for completeness and accuracy.
• Respond to employee and management inquiries regarding the calculation of pay.
• Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information

Requirements and skills
• Proven work experience as a Payroll Administrator or similar role
• Proficiency in Quickbooks, Microsoft Office and payroll software programs
• Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Good time management and organizational skills

Education:
• A master's in accounting or MBA is preferred. Certified public accountants strongly preferred.
• Must be willing to undergo a background check. *
