Seattle Public Utilities is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer Specialist CADD Technician to join the Project Delivery & Engineering Branch. This position is responsible for performing either AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Plant 3D CADD services using complex Civil drafting & design software platforms to support SPU & SDOT advertised Capital projects, SPU Crew work projects, As-Built & Record drawings, and our design consultants.

The successful candidate will possess knowledge of exceptional design drafting services using AutoCAD products, and producing high quality plan sets.

Job Responsibilities

Work closely with SPU Land Survey and SPU Engineering to develop advertised Capital Improvement Projects (CIP).
Assist the supervisor in the continued development and research of CAD technology improvements for the department.
Subject matter expert in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Sheet Set Manager, BIM 360 and or Plant 3D, and other AutoCAD software to perform intricate, computer-aided drafting of CIP plan sets - including permit drawings, options analysis plans, project cover sheets, CSEC, demolition, water, sewer & storm drainage plans and profiles, 3 dimensional pump station drafting, grading & paving plans and profiles, intersection geometry layouts for ADA ramps, electrical plans such as SCADA or other wiring diagrams, cross sections, details, etc.
Use AutoCAD Civil 3D or other AutoCAD software to perform As-Built and Record Drawing drafting, including research and verification of data. Interpret inspectors’ notes, surveys, and existing records to assure that maps and drawings are accurate and reflect improvements made in the field.
Use AutoCAD Civil 3D or other AutoCAD software to develop contract plans, as-built drawings, and record drawings for SPU and SDOT.
Coordinates and cooperates with other agencies, departments, divisions, and private utilities involved in or affected by projects.
Serve as a technical lead and/or trainer for the Design & Record Drafting team in the future development of CADD-related software.
Work with the Design & Record Drafting Supervisor to stay current with CAD technology, further our performance metrics, and reduce budgetary concerns.
