About the role
This 12-month Fixed-term contract role focuses on qualitative and quantitative analysis of potential strategic business initiatives and providing business case assessments and recommendations. To deliver on-going success, Sportsbet remains focused on bringing excitement to life for generations to come. To deliver on our strategic ambitions, this role will work closely with the Head of and General Manager of Commercial to continue Sportsbet’s envious commercial position focusing on both existing and new commercial agreements, acquisition opportunities and new business ventures.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter, a strong communicator and have a broad analytical, commercial and project skillset. The candidate will also have deep experience in the critical review and assessment of organisations and business models, with a focus on new market entry.
With exec-level stakeholder management experience, a delivery-focused mindset and experience influencing key business decisions, the candidate will support the General Manager of Commercial and lead projects as required.
About You
Responsible for leading and supporting Sportsbet’s Commercial team across diverse key business initiatives
As such, the role will own end-to-end assessment, forecasting activities, and both preparation and presenting of supporting business case materials to senior leadership stakeholders
Under the direction of the Head of and GM, identify wagering growth opportunities (core business) and non-core adjacent opportunities; creating proposals, go-to-market strategies, appropriate internal and external approvals and ultimately delivering the opportunities to market
Lead the analytical assessment of new opportunities, existing opportunities and the review of existing business performance for potential evolution / advancement
Assist with commercial deal negotiations on major initiatives, including preparation of negotiation materials
Identify business development opportunities through appropriate exploration and modelling (including the building of valuation models and the identification of synergies)
Play a supportive and lead role, as applicable, in the delivery of business development initiatives
With the Head of and GM, support members of the Executive Leadership Team in the identification of appropriate suppliers and in the negotiation, execution and management of material commercial agreements
Manage engagement with key internal and, where appropriate, external subject matter experts
Behavioural Competencies
Strong finance and analytical background with the ability to build complex financial and valuation models and translation of these models into crisp business recommendations
Ability to translate high-level strategy into tangible operational / go to market plans
Ability to work with exec-level stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
Ability to drive change and challenge the status quo
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to lead a project team effectively to achieve desired outcomes
Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
