The Opportunity:

The NIAA has a current vacancy for a Senior Coordination Officer, based in Eastern, NSW. The Senior Coordination Officer role is to oversee and guide the day-to-day operational activities of a small team, to deliver high quality and coordinated services to the wider Eastern NSW Engagement Teams.



The position will ensure that program and community engagement information, which directly is linked to the wider duties of Eastern NSW, is efficiently and accurately coordinated for the larger region. The Senior Coordination Officer will contribute to a strong team culture, and encourage innovation, where staff are valued and supported, while ensuring commitment to producing quality outcomes.



This role includes the following duties and is expected to be conducted with a broad degree of self-direction:

• contribute to a culture that aligns with NIAA values and fosters high performing teams who are dedicated to achieving quality program outcomes

• provide advice and assistance in a range of formats and channels to provide information, tools and guidance to internal and external stakeholders

• coordinate information to ensure even distribution and management of priorities, for the Eastern NSW Region

• undertake complex procedural, administrative and service-related tasks that support NIAA business activities or management of a project

• effectively monitor and report on team and project performance and workload, and implement remedial action as required to ensure performance indicators are met and quality is maintained.



Our Ideal Candidate:

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate the following attributes and abilities:

• ability to provide technical support and operational guidance and direction to the team

• demonstrated experience in coordinating internal departmental program management information or supporting regional planning within a government or community services setting

• ability to work and collaborate within a small team, and proven capability to work autonomously and independently

• develop and maintain an understanding of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities, their needs, aspirations and priorities, emerging issues and the service delivered to communities within this region

• represent the Agency to engage and build relationships with First Nations corporations, Community Traditional Owners, Elders, Leaders and Partners

• well-developed written and verbal communication skills, and a strong analytical lens

• possess and/or have the ability to understand issues facing the First Nations people.
