About SafelyYou

SafelyYou’s passionate mission is to empower safer, more person-centered care across senior living through world-leading AI, industry-changing hardware, and remote expert clinicians, significantly improving outcomes for residents while increasing peace of mind for families and reducing costs for communities.

Originating in 2015 as the doctoral research of CEO George Netscher—and inspired by his own family's experience with Alzheimer's disease—SafelyYou was spun out of UC Berkeley’s Artificial Intelligence Research Lab, one of the top five AI research groups in the world. And today, our company is solving critical challenges in senior living, from resident falls and ER visits to staffing concerns, length of stay, and NOI. All helping ensure that communities can focus on improved care for residents while still reaching their financial goals.

SafelyYou is one of five most innovative fall technologies referenced in the Senate Falls Report (201+), a winner of the McKnight’s Tech Partner of the Year, and has been named to Fortune’s Impact 20 list, which recognizes companies making people’s lives better through innovation.

Your Role at SafelyYou

More specifically, you will work in an event-based architecture to ingest data events, store, organize, and generate reports for analysis.

You will work closely with other developers on the data team, and developers from multiple teams, to define, design, and implement scalable and reliable products and features that use data to improve health care outcomes for the elderly. You will partner with product management, CSM, business operations, and executives to gather and analyze data to understand quality of care trends.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and build infrastructure for extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various data sources, including care facilities and medical records, using AWS and database technologies
Develop analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key metrics for health care professionals and executives, which improve the quality of care
Work with stakeholders, including executives, product managers, and other business stakeholders to support their data needs for understanding care trends, improving patient outcomes, and analyzing opportunities to improve services and products
Ensure data quality and reliability by developing tests and validating results with ongoing monitoring
Create and maintain technical documentation to help maintain and improve systems
Work in an Agile environment to plan, track, and improve the delivery of new features and products
Collaborate with customer support and operations teams to provide support and participate in on-call rotation as needed
The Ideal Candidate:

8+ years of professional experience in software or data engineering working at a SaaS company, preferably in a startup environment
Experience with remote work and distributed teams
Proven track record of implementing and supporting data storage and pipeline solutions
Expert-level proficiency with SQL and database concepts and tools

Proficiency with data analytics technologies and tools, such as Looker
Proven ability to optimize performance of SQL queries and PySpark jobs
Proficiency with extracting data from REST APIs
Experience working with Terraform and Cloud Infrastructure, such as AWS
Experience with electronic health records and the associated data privacy regulations is a plus
Experience with HL7 data feeds and the FHIR API specification is a plus
Prioritizes quality over speed: when it is done, it is really done
