Overview:

Serves as a Product owner for an assigned data product or set of products by representing the voice of the customer and stakeholders to ensure that the product provides value to the customer, while aligning with the business strategy.

This role supports the creation of the product vision and roadmap, prioritizes the product backlog, anticipates client needs and serves as primary communicator between product stakeholders and teams while evaluating data product progress. In addition, they will play a key role in tracking the team objectives to deploy and track KPI’s to ensure delivery of robust data products, actively track and monitor progression of assigned Data issues by working collaboratively with key stakeholders, including senior leadership and their dedicated agile team.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Build and own the data product(s) vision and roadmap from concept to launch that aligns with the overall strategic intent and communicate them with the team and all stakeholders. Prioritize the backlog based on the overall product vision and strategy.
• Use a matrixed influencing approach to work with essential business partners throughout the organization irrespective of hierarchy or divisions, advocating for the benefit of the customer.
• Represent the voice of the customer within the team and convey story details to the team; make autonomous decisions, quickly and thoughtfully, to move delivery forward in alignment with overall data product vision and strategy.
• Ensure business requirements are clearly defined, communicated, and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning.
• Write user stories and groom the backlog in partnership with the team through active participation in all team activities and ceremonies.
• Iterate product development based on technology, architecture feedback and knowledge of data platforms to generate value for the business.
• Ensure work is aligned to assigned objectives and key results (OKRs).
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable
• Complete other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ product, data, analytical, technical and/or business experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 8 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years’ business, analytical, technical and/or product experience

Education and Experience Preferred:
• Fintech experience working in Enterprise Data office, Business Data teams
• Prior experience working on Enterprise, Federated data products actively seeking out multiple opinions, yet making independent decisions and influencing positive outcomes
• Understanding of full-cycle product development within an Agile framework
• Experience writing technical stories in agile project tracking software using industry standard notations
• Knowledge of cloud data platforms, data management tools, and relational databases
• Knowledge and application of data architecture concepts
• Experience in adopting data governance principles
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $11+,400.84 - $1++,001.40 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
