Due to growth, a global leader in electrical infrastructure modernisation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project / Electrical Engineer to join their Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) power systems modernisation team. This division is responsible for designing and upgrading their client’s switchgear / switchrooms to increase functionality and sustainability without disrupting the electrical distribution network.
Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for providing key technical insight, design and planning for modernisation and retrofit solutions, enhancing switchgear / switchroom performance, and ensuring the seamless integration of upgraded MV/LV circuit breakers and distribution systems (33kv and under).
Key Responsibilities
Lead the engineering design and execution of MV/LV power distribution and switchgear / switchroom upgrades and modernisation to IEC & AC standards (AS2067, AS3000, AS6186+, AS62271, AS60470 etc.) [Essential]
Provide technical expertise in designing switchgear/ switchroom systems, including maintenance, installation, and performance optimisation.
Collaborate with Sales, Workshop, and Project Management teams to drive the growth of modernisation and retrofit projects, extending the lifespan of electrical infrastructure and improving system efficiency.
Oversee the full project lifecycle from feasibility studies and engineering design to implementation and commissioning.
Conduct power system analysis, fault studies, and load flow analysis to optimise system performance and reliability.
Ensure adherence to safety regulations, sustainability principles, and circular economy initiatives to extend asset lifespan and reduce carbon footprints.
Please note this is not a PLC/automation engineering role
Technical Requirements
Career focus in Electrical Engineering for Power Systems with MV/LV distribution. (HV/MV may be considered, but understand you will be working with MV/LV)
Strong expertise in switchgear systems / switch room systems, including installation, maintenance, and protection relays.
Experience in retrofit and modernisation projects is beneficial but not essential.
Strong preference for Chartered and registered professionals in Queensland/Victoria (RPEQ/RPEV).
