Senior IFRS Group Accountant Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and client-focused IFRS Group Accounting Expert to join our Group Accounting Advisory team.

This individual will support clients in preparing IFRS-compliant consolidated financial statements, provide guidance on complex accounting issues, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality advisory projects.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in IFRS group accounting and a passion for working in a consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up and manage intercompany eliminations and intercompany allocations in Excel.
• Prepare IFRS consolidated financial statements for small- and medium-sized groups in various sectors.
• Prepare IFRS special purpose financial statements (reporting packages) for subsidiaries of multinational groups.
• Lead or assist with group reporting processes, including consolidation entries, intercompany eliminations, and financial disclosures.
• Advise clients on technical IFRS issues, including new standard implementations and complex transactions.
• Prepare technical accounting memos, documentation, and reconciliations in line with client and auditor expectations.
• Design, build, and tailor group consolidation models in Excel for international (sub-) groups with head offices in Europe.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation schedules in accordance with IFRS.
• Address complex accounting issues, such as currency translation adjustments and business combinations.
• Support internal stakeholders and client teams with the preparation of IFRS notes disclosures.
Required Qualifications:
• Professional qualification in accounting (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent) and degree in accounting.
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in accounting.
• At least 3 years experience in IFRS group accounting, in a consolidation or accounting advisory role, with proven experience in preparing consolidated financial statements under IFRS.
• Proven experience in accounting, consolidation, and financial reporting for small-/mid-size international groups (3–20 entities, up to CHF/EUR 500M revenue).
• Deep knowledge of IFRS accounting standards, group accounting policies, consolidation mechanics, goodwill accounting, and purchase price allocation.
• Excellent skills in Excel, including complex formulas and structure design.
• Strong attention to detail and hands-on approach.
• Familiarity and willingness to learn working with LLMs (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) and AI agents.
• Comfortable dealing with documents in German language and using translation software.
• Experience working with clients in a professional services environment (e.g., Big 4 or similar advisory/consulting firm) is highly desirable.

• Type: Freelance or Contract.
• Location: Fully remote.
• Schedule: Flexible (self-managed), approx. 5–10 hours/week or 20–30 hours/month.
• Duration: Ongoing, project-based support.
• Payment: Hourly rate based on the freelancer's location.
