About your new role
As a Senior Officer within the Open Space Assets team, you will play a key role in project planning, project management, preparation of concept plans and management of design consultancies to produce documentation suitable for consultation and construction.
This position involves Councillor liaison, community engagement and the preparation of landscape master plans, concept plans, sketches, sections and details that will be used to communicate with Councillors and the Community. The position will also act as the asset custodian / project owner of major park projects from inception through to opening.
Responsibilities and duties of the role include, but are not limited to:
Preparation of concept plans and open space network improvement plans
Represent the interests of the community and other stakeholders to deliver the best possible outcomes for parkland projects within the assigned budgets
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders and negotiate robust outcomes for the City
Manage consultants, contractors and internal service providers
Review consultant design drawings and specifications
Assessment of Design Change Requests and responding to RFI's
Provide advice to Councillors, City personnel and the public on complex major projects
Present project updates, reporting, and consult with Council, government, community and external stakeholders
Liaise with operational and maintenance staff to ensure future projects are well designed and deliver whole-of-life benefits
Support the project management and landscape design capability across the branch.
We're looking for people who have:
Experience in and are a highly skilled landscape designer or project manager with extensive experience in open space infrastructure delivery
Bachelor degree in a relevant field (Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management - or relevant equivalent experience)
Certifications in Project Management or the equivalent knowledge - Project Management experience within a government organisation would be highly desired
Excellent communication skills with an ability to provide clear advice, guidance and influence on project outcomes
Confidence in collaborating with a varied range of stakeholders, including Councillors, Executive Management and the Gold Coast community
The ability to handle matters of a confidential nature, incorporating a degree of judgement and initiative
The ability to support the project management and landscape design capability across the branch.
