Your role
Have a passion for the digital space? Are you a seasoned product manager who has experience with in-house management platforms and is comfortable in technical environments? Then this opportunity with Digital Media is for you.
Working alongside our product and editorial teams (News, Regional Media, Sports/Olympics, OHdio, Mordu, TV, etc.) and a dedicated development crew (project manager, architects, technical lead, developers, UX/UI designers, technical manager and more), you’ll be shaping the short-, medium- and long-term evolution of our CMS products (Scoop, Athena, Picto, etc.). Our CMS supports up to 1,000 users daily right across Canada.
In this role, you’ll identify the business needs of our partners (product and editorial teams), taking a user- and developer-centric approach as you build a high-quality CMS product with a seamless user experience. The product experience is central to everything you do. Your focus will also be on finding the right balance between product evolution and its operationalization (stabilization), all while chipping away at technical debt.
You’re a natural in an agile environment and have an experimental mindset to help inform product decisions. You’re skilled at figuring out what will deliver maximum value as quickly as possible, without jeopardizing product stability, and you know how to run this process regularly with your teams and partners.
Beyond just developing your product, you’ll be an active participant in our internal Product Management community of practice. You’ll also be an ambassador, sharing best practices from within the organization and from the broader industry.
Here’s a rundown of your key responsibilities:
Summarize needs and objectives into clear and concise epics and user stories.
Analyze, prioritize and guide the development of value-added CMS features, considering business needs, opportunities and technical debt.
Clearly identify problems and opportunities to achieve established business objectives (OKRs).
Evolve the vision and road map of our CMS ecosystem.
Incorporate the reduction of technical debt into all priority considerations.
Communicate regularly on progress, challenges and issues with a solution-oriented approach.
Lead all strategy and planning activities (product discovery), including defining objectives and key results, product reviews, design sprint cycles, etc.
Support teams in product delivery activities.
Ensure strong collaboration with product teams as well as internal and external partners.
Determine product success criteria, measure and analyze results, and propose optimizations to drive product growth in line with business objectives.
Nurture a culture of collaboration, learning and creativity.
Ensure the team and partners prioritize quality over quantity.
Guide the work of your peers, providing mentoring and leadership.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
University degree in technology or e-commerce, or any other training related to product management.
Seven years’ experience developing digital products as a product manager, including three years focused on in-house products.
Experience using tools in an agile environment (Scrum, Jira, Confluence, etc.).
Solid understanding of performance measurement and user testing tools.
Experience with collaboration and co-creation methods (Design Sprint and others).
Excellent spoken and written French.
English an asset to promote collaboration with bilingual teams.
What will really set you apart:
Strong strategic thinking combined with the operational skills to both envision and execute.
A user-centric approach, using data-driven decision-making.
Ability to strike a good balance between experimentation and stability, ensuring the team and partners focus on quality over quantity.
Ability to collaborate effectively across various disciplines, instil trust among peers and influence others positively and effectively.
Strong presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to all levels of the organization.
An ambassador for agile values, principles and methods, capable of identifying and encouraging the most relevant management practices for your team and product context.
Strong curiosity, constantly on the lookout for new developments, trends and innovations in your areas of expertise and business (digital, in-house platforms, media, etc.).
