The System Design Division plays a critical role in AEMO’s success, driving the organisation’s collaborative and industry-wide efforts in meeting the engineering challenges of a net-zero energy system. The Division includes specialist areas in system planning, forecasting, future energy as well as onboarding and connections. The Onboarding and Connections Group manages AEMO’s end to end process for connecting, registering, and commissioning generators into the National Electricity Market.
About The Role
In the role of Senior Project Planner within the Onboarding and Connections Department, you will be part of the team that manages projects making an impact on Australia energy future and helps in moving towards a net zero target. Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and manage project schedules, reporting to assist in decision making, and be part of process changes.
What You Will Be Doing
Lead the development of detailed project plans for connection projects, by collaborating with project managers and engineering leads.
Take ownership in developing the short-and long-term resource forecast requirement for the regional Engineering teams.
Consult and engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
Manage project escalations and proactively work with Project Manager and Engineering team in identifying project time, cost, and scope creeps.
Implementation of CRI process improvements to BAU project plan and champion the change management process in embedding the improvements.
Develop a suite of portfolio reports to provide better visibility to management team on ensuring resources are allocated and prioritised to meet critical deliverables.
What You Will Bring To The Role
Education/ Certificates
Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline (project management, engineering, or a related field)
Recognised project management certification is well regarded.
Expert skills in using Microsoft Project with experience in managing Macros, Custom Reports and views, Gantt chart customisation, qualitative inputs, and capability to analyseproject data.
Experience And Knowledge
Knowledge of the energy sector, including both industry and regulatory matters
Minimum 5 years’ experience in project, program or portfolio planning and delivery within the energy, engineering, or similar industry.
Ability to understand, complex energy engineering programs.
Expert Proficiency with Microsoft Project such as Macros, Custom Reports and views, Gantt chart customisation, qualitative inputs, and capability to analyse project data.
Good understanding of Customer Relationship Management software.
Proven track record in project managing several projects simultaneously and understanding of the key commercial and legal issues.
Experience in client facing roles in a project environment requiring well developed interpersonal, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
