The Kimberley Region is a remote and complex landscape renowned for its natural beauty and cultural significance.
We are currently seeking a Senior Projects Officer - Joint Management to join our team.
Under the limited direction of the Regional Leader Joint Management, you will:
Support Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) negotiations including project managing and taking a lead role in progressing stage two park negotiations for additions to conservation estate with a range of stakeholders.
Coordinate the region's involvement in the development and review of co-designed joint management plans in partnership with Planning Branch and Traditional Owners.
Identify opportunities to build on existing joint management practices to improve the delivery of joint management in the Kimberley region, progressing these where they are a determined regional priority.
Support active joint management communication pathways within the Kimberley region and other regions and the Aboriginal Engagement Planning and Lands Branch.
In this role, you will be Leading Others to help drive positive change.
Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following five (5) criteria.
Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and oral communication skills and considerable experience in effective liaison and negotiation with other government agencies, industry, stakeholders, and community interest groups, and the media.
Demonstrated experience working with Traditional Owners in support of the protection and conservation of their heritage and culture in a collaborative or joint management setting, with an awareness of Aboriginal governance processes, cultural practices, and cultural values.
Demonstrated ability and experience in supervising others, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and working independently, and be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised in remote locations.
Sound knowledge and demonstrated experience in managing complex projects with a diversity of stakeholders including planning, engagement, implementation and evaluation within agreed timeframes.
Experience in natural resource management, including land management and planning; with a preference for someone with knowledge of the Kimberley region's natural environment and an understanding of the biodiversity issues affecting tropical northern Australia.
