Job description
Robert Half is teaming up with a prominent real estate development company in Cherry Creek to find a skilled Senior Property Accountant. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial management of a rapidly growing real estate portfolio, including active multifamily properties and upcoming developments.
Role Description: As the Senior Property Accountant, you will manage full-cycle accounting processes for our expanding real estate portfolio. This includes ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting to support management and investor decisions.
Job Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
• Record monthly adjusting and accrual journal entries.
• Update fixed asset register and record monthly depreciation/amortization.
• Monitor cash balances and facilitate distributions to investors.
• Prepare monthly financial statements following GAAP, with budget variance analysis.
• Distribute financial reports to lenders and investors.
• Attend management and investor meetings as required.
• Assist in annual audit and tax return preparation.
• Assist in annual budget preparation.
Accounts Receivable:
• Record tenant receipts and apply payments to monthly charges.
• Process monthly tenant billings.
• Monitor tenant accounts for delinquencies.
Accounts Payable:
• Process payable invoices, including review, coding, and obtaining approvals.
• Record payments accurately and in a timely manner.
Other Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with external accounting firm on management of Delwest-owned HOAs.
• Handle ad hoc projects and requests.
Desired Skills & Experience:
• 2-4 years of related experience in property accounting.
• Familiarity with multiple entity ownership structures.
• Experience in multifamily real estate is preferred; commercial or home building experience will also be considered.
• Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and dedication to high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Passion for real estate and thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
• Experience with Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) projects is a plus.
• Proficiency in Resman software is preferred; training will be provided for the right candidate.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
