Position Title: Senior Software Engineer

Location: Chennai & Hyderabad

Reporting: Manager – Technology

Years of Relevant Experience: 4-8 years

Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work closely with stakeholders in the business teams across Roche’s global affiliates and deliver high quality technical and architectural solutions to real-world business problems. You will be required to design and develop robust data models, data pipelines and data products.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:
• Work closely with the business stakeholders to define the project objectives and scope
• Lead the team and stakeholder discussions, act as thought partner and provide them with high quality solutions and recommendations
• Develop presentations to communicate key insights, recommendations to the stakeholders
• Understand the stakeholder needs, prioritize and manage the day to day tasks accordingly
• Work on multiple projects simultaneously depending on the requirements
• Motivate, mentor and coach the junior members on the team and help them grow
• Conduct training programs to develop subject matter expertise in the team
• Be involved in the decision making and make significant contributions across key initiatives to help grow the GATE team

Required Experience, Skills, Qualification
• 5+ years of experience in programming with Python. Strong proficiency in Python
• 3+ years of Hands on experience in developing data pipelines using PySpark on AWS EMR
• Good understanding of Spark’s Data Frame
• Experience of dealing with AWS S3 object storage from Spark
• Experience in trouble shooting spark jobs. Knowledge of monitoring spark jobs using Spark UI
• Performance tuning of Spark jobs
• Knowledge of scheduling spark applications in Airflow
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience of GIT based products (GitHub, BitBucket)
• Experience in workflow and collaboration tool such as Atlassian Jira and Confluence
• Strong articulation and stakeholder management skills
• Strong presentation and communication skills with experience presenting to and fielding questions from stakeholders
