Reporting to the Power Systems Engineering Manager, the Senior Systems Engineer contributes as a senior member of the Power Systems Engineering team capable of carrying out needed engineering initiatives, with emphasis on learning about product development, engineering processes, product design, Envision Economy and sustaining engineering.

A good systems engineer is able to draw from a broad knowledge base and personal experience to take a “holistic” and “concurrent-engineering” approach to product system design. A senior systems engineer addresses all stakeholder requirements early in the design and is able to anticipate and plan for expected challenges throughout the process. The successful candidate has proven experience and minimum required supervision when interfacing customers, sales and marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, quality department and field installation, technical support and problem resolution.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conceptualize and design innovative power systems based on Switch Mode Power supplies and Energy Storage Systems (ESS). Focus is on modular systems based on Enclosures and racks including power converters, electro-mechanical devices, protection devices, wiring, connectivity peripherals, Customer Interface devices (e.g. controllers and displays), connectors, thermal management devices and other equipment as needed
Participates and actively contribute to design and requirements reviews
Applies best practices and procedures to design, influence, and drive quality, reliability, and cost
Applies Baukasten philosophy to re-use building blocks saving cost, improving reliability, streamlining scalability, and reducing time-to-market
Assembles and wires prototype Enersys Systems in indoor and outdoor cabinets
Electrical Assembly work: wiring, installation and testing of electrical and electronic equipment
Mechanical Assembly work: use of tools, assembling and prototyping tasks
Creates and executes test plans and test cases to verify that products meet product requirements and customer expectations
Designs and builds test set ups
Generates test execution reports to review with the product team
Participates in the failure review processes including identifying root cause, documenting and following through on the closed loop corrective action process
Work on power HIL system test platforms including writing code and system integration testing
Designs systems for the Envision economy and create Interface control documents
Qualifications
5 Years of experience in designing, prototyping, manufacturing, test planning, and testing of integrated power systems incorporating electronics, mechanical, firmware, and software development, preferably for Telecommunications or UPS markets.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on work experience as a Power Systems Designer or similar role
Detailed understanding of engineering documentation including schematics, drawings, and BOMs
Excellent organizational skills with good attention to detail
Excellent English communication skill both verbal and written
Creative problem solving/troubleshooting skills
Good customer relationship skills
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Ability to work in a collaborative cross-functional team environment
Occasional travel as needed

Preferred:

Experience in telecommunications and/or Indoor/Outdoor systems prototyping and manufacturing industries.
Experience in Energy Storage Systems for Telecommunications or Industrial systems
Experience in AC and DC Power Systems for telecommunications or wireless applications, and in UL/CSA and Bellcore Standards (CSA, NEMA, NEBS, GR-487).
Understanding of thermodynamics, electronics closures and packaging, sheet-metal processes, machining, plastic molding, and HVAC systems
