Senior Technical Document Writer – AP & Spend Management SaaS Product

We are seeking a Senior Technical Document Writer with a strong background in product business analysis and a solid understanding of accounting principles, especially in Accounts Payable (AP) and Spend Management. In this role, you will lead the creation of clear, accurate, and user-focused documentation for our SaaS platform, empowering customers and internal stakeholders to fully leverage our products.
You’ll work cross-functionally with Product Managers, Engineers, QA, and Customer Success teams to ensure our documentation aligns with product functionality and business workflows.
Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end documentation process, including:
User guides
Functional and technical specs
Implementation guides
API documentation
Knowledge base articles and training content
Translate complex product features and accounting workflows into accessible, structured documentation for varied audiences.
Collaborate with Product Managers and BAs to understand business requirements and user stories to inform documentation content.
Ensure documentation reflects the end-to-end user journey, including integrations, configurations, and use-case-based scenarios.
Maintain documentation standards and style guides to ensure clarity, consistency, and brand alignment.
Leverage tools like Confluence, Git-based systems, Swagger/OpenAPI, and Help Center platforms to manage and publish content.
Contribute to internal product training materials and onboarding content.
Requirements
5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer in a SaaS environment.
Prior experience as a Product Business Analyst or working closely with BAs in accounting or finance domains.
Strong understanding of accounting processes, especially Accounts Payable, Procurement, or Spend Management.
Proven ability to create content for both end users and technical audiences, including developers and system integrators.
Proficiency in tools such as Markdown, Confluence, Git, Swagger, or equivalent.
Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and work autonomously.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience documenting RESTful APIs, system integrations, or ERP connectors.
Familiarity with Agile product development and documentation practices.
Exposure to localization/internationalization of content.
Understanding of UI/UX principles and design tools (e.g., Figma).
Job Type: Freelance
Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
