We are seeking an experienced Senior Training Advisor to design and deliver training programmes that support the Electoral Commission's election operations. You'll be instrumental in building capability across the organisation by creating engaging, fit-for-purpose training content and delivering high-impact learning solutions for a range of roles, including permanent and event-based staff.

This is a fixed term role until September 2026.

You will play a key role in strengthening our learning and development ecosystem, as you lead the training stream of our Training Implementation Programme and help shape our operational readiness for the 2026 General Election.

You will work collaboratively with teams across the Commission, including Capability and Organisational Development, Voting Services, and Corporate Services, to design and implement training that enables our people to deliver high-quality services for all New Zealanders.

The base salary range for this position is $108,140 - $120,160, depending on skills and experience.

Design, develop and implement high-quality training programmes and learning resources.
Conduct training needs analysis and capability assessments.
Lead the development of a training prioritisation matrix to support workforce planning.
Support change initiatives and the delivery of new training content and channels.
Deliver training across multiple disciplines to both National Office and field staff.
Develop learning pathways, e-learning modules, and curriculum plans.
Contribute to the development of the Commission's training strategy and frameworks.
Lead the training component of key projects, ensuring deliverables are on time and aligned with Commission goals.
Translate complex information into simple, accessible learning.
Maintain and evaluate training programmes, using feedback and data to drive improvements.
Actively build strong, effective relationships across the organisation.

Knowledge of training lifecycles and best practice learning design.
Experience working in large or complex organisations, or operational environment.
Proficiency in developing both in-person and digital learning experiences.
- Exceptional communication skills - written, verbal, and visual.
Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
An understanding of project management principles and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Experience with e-learning platforms and tools is a plus.
Basic coaching and mentoring capabilities to support team learning.
A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in learning and development, training, education, or instructional design.
Strong experience in adult learning, instructional design, and training delivery. ideally with proficiency in Articulate 360 or similar e-learning authoring tools.
