Withum’s Tax Services Group is made up of a brilliant team of tax specialists that work to ensure tax reporting obligations are met in an accurate and timely manner and minimize or defer the payment of taxes. Their comprehensive understanding of international, US federal, state, and local regulations, counting our affiliation with HLB international, allows them to help develop economical tax strategies anywhere. Their services include Business, Individual, State & Local tax, R&D Tax Credit, as well as International and Private Client services.

As a Sales and Use Senior Tax Associate, you'll work alongside an integrated team of seasoned, well-known CPAs and industry leaders.

How you’ll spend your time:
• Prepare internal work papers for sales and use tax returns in various states on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis;
• Preparation of registrations for clients with various state agencies;
• Researching and resolving inquiries from tax jurisdictions and clients. Being highly responsive to clients and various government tax agencies regarding notices and requests;
• Remaining current on new tax legislation and tax accounting rules;
• Assist clients with all state and local tax issues including notice research and resolution;
• Research tax controversy and provide support, including research for tax audits

The kinds of people we want to talk to have many of the following:
• Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting or comparable subject. Masters in Accounting or Taxation highly preferred[JB1] ;
• CPA highly desired. Partial completion of the CPA exam is acceptable, must be actively working towards completing CPA exam;
• 4+ years of experience in sales/use tax compliance, Knowledge of and understanding of Wayfair, nexus, sourcing, and apportionment is a plus;
• Proficiency with Excel;
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
• Be able to multi-task in a deadline driven environment;
• Highly motivated and proactive, with a commitment to delivering agreed results;
• Strong Communicate and interpersonal skills, both written and oral, with supervisors, other employees and outside agencies;
• Highly proactive, self-driven, confident in the ability to be client facing and can independently problem solve with accuracy;
• Familiarity with Vertex/Avalara and high-level payroll tax knowledge is a plus
