Shift: Monday to Friday 8.00-4.30 with occasional flexibility required
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Warehouse Automation Technician to join our team and maintain the smooth operation of automated systems within our main Distribution Centres based in Kegworth, Corby and Coleshill. The role will be reporting to the Technical Services Manager.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with automation equipment, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to minimising downtime by optimising system performance.
Your Tasks
• Install, program and calibrate warehouse automation systems, including conveyors, robotics, and sensors.
• Perform routine maintenance, identify issues, and repair mechanical, electrical and software components of automation systems. If remote fixes are not possible, travel to the site will be necessary.
• Adhere to safety protocols and ensure all automation equipment complies with industry standards.
• Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules and system upgrades.
• Work closely with warehouse teams and provide training on using automated systems effectively.
• Maintain the integrity of the critical spares inventory by conducting counts and inputting delivery or repair data as directed by the Technical Services Manager.
• Support vendor technicians and engineers when on site.
• Support in training activities or cover of other members of the team across other UK sites as needed.
• Maintain 5S standards in all engineering working areas, ensuring that the area is clean and safe, all tooling is in the correct place, and any faults or issues are reported to the Technical Services Manager.
Your Profile:
• Knowledge of the workings of conveyor systems, Autostore, shuttle systems and/or other types of automation (Preferred)
• Previous experience in repair of electrical or mechanical systems.
• Confident using power tools including hot works tools such as soldering irons.
• Comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces.
• Ability to work in high pressure situations to tight deadlines.
• Knowledgeable in the Microsoft 365 package including Word, Excel and Access.
• Confident using a computer for a variety of tasks.
• Remote support experience (Preferred).
• Flexibility to adjust working patterns to support a 24/7 warehouse operation.
• Flexibility to travel to other sites in the UK as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to £42,000.00 per year
