About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About The Role
We are searching for a passionate and experienced Senior Web Developer to join our Digital and Change Directorate at Haringey Council. As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of complex web solutions, driving the creation and improvement of high-quality, user-focused digital services. Your expertise will ensure that all systems deliver exceptional resident experiences by maintaining the highest standards of access, usability, performance, security, and scalability.
About The Team
You will be joining a forward-thinking Digital and Change Directorate that is dedicated to driving digital transformation across Haringey Council. Our team is committed to developing robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions that align with the Digital Service Standard and organisational goals. We work collaboratively, facilitating meetings, workshops, and sessions with stakeholders throughout development and testing phases to ensure alignment and clear communication of progress and requirements. Our team places a strong emphasis on innovation, continuous improvement, and the adoption of modern development tools and methodologies. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with internal digital teams and external partners, contributing to initiatives that achieve the Council’s corporate objectives and meet the needs of our citizens and businesses.
About You
You are a highly skilled Drupal developer with strong front and back-end development skills, experienced in developing fully responsive and highly accessible websites (to WCAG 2.2 AA minimum). You possess demonstrable knowledge of best practices in UX design, including GDS design standards. Your technical expertise includes working with third-party data sources/APIs, SSO with M365, SharePoint document integration, Google Analytics, and site search tools. You are proficient in applying structured and documented methodologies to facilitate the transparent and efficient development of complex applications. Your role will involve leading the design and development of large and complex programs, overseeing the creation and amendment of programs, and ensuring consistency, scalability, and adherence to best practices in software development. You will also develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies, review and approve specifications, and ensure comprehensive documentation of all work. As a technical leader, you will mentor and guide colleagues, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team. If you are ready to make a significant impact and help shape the digital future of Haringey Council, we would love to hear from you.
