About the Job

We are looking for a Software Engineer in Test for an excellent permanent opportunity in Normanton. This is a key position within the Software Development Team and as such requires a highly motivated individual with a desire to succeed within a team environment.

This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, an enquiring mindset, good communication skills (both written and verbal), a very keen eye for detail and a solid background in building test frameworks from scratch. As part of the team you will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered to a high degree of quality, meeting and sometimes exceeding the agreed scope. We aim for our software to be as close to bug free as possible and you will be a key player in helping the department achieve this. The role offers an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to develop their skills and grow with the business.

Responsibilities include:
• Creation of automation frameworks to make testing our in-house applications and APIs simpler and more reliable.
• Test design and development, ensuring each application/API is well tested from a coverage and completeness perspective.
• Design and write complex testing software.
• Generate test data programmatically.
• Supporting with the development of CI/CD pipelines.
• Creation of test frameworks to test performance, load and security.
• Debugging scripts and identifying system flaws and working with engineers to change the code.
• Write code to improve the overall testability of the software.
• Work closely with our engineering tests to fix coding issues.
• Execute test cases (manual or automated) and analyse results.
• Create logs to document testing phases and defects.
• Help troubleshoot issues.
• Conduct post-release/ post-implementation testing.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Partake in regular updates with the Software Development Manager.
• Work closely with the Software Development Manager to ensure releases meet the company quality standards.

• Experience in a similar role with a good understanding of ERP systems.

Technical Skills Required

Essential
• Proficiency in programming/designing in C#.
• Proficiency in programming/designing in JavaScript.
• Proven experience as a Quality Assurance Tester or similar role.
• Experience in project management and QA methodology.
• Familiarity with Agile frameworks and regression testing.
• Ability to document and troubleshoot errors.
• Working knowledge of automated test management software.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude.
• Strong organizational skills.

Desirable
• SQL experience.
• Experience introducing automated UI testing to a team.
• Experience within a small/medium IT team.
• Experience with Jira project management software.
• BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or have substantial demonstrable experience.
