As a Software QA Engineer, you will be:
Accountable for deliverables and effectiveness of processes in quality assurance in your scrum team as well as in the QA team.
Responsible for the creation, execution and maintenance of test apparatus such as test plans, test cases, and test data based on business requirements, as well as monitoring the health of our home-brewed applications in test and production environments.
Responsible for root cause analysis of problems identified by end users and internal teams.
Adept at API testing using tool of choice. We are an API-first testing team and use Postman.
Responsible for all quality-related aspects of the application: functional and non-functional including performance and security.
Liaising with the application support team to provide first-level support to end-users to resolve production.
This is the right role if you:
Have a university degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
Have 5+ years of full-time industry experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer.
Put customers first and have a customer support mindset: We use technology to solve customer problems and not as a shiny toy.
Are proficient with web application testing: using browser dev tools to troubleshoot issues, using API testing tools such as Postman and UI testing to produce solid user experiences as well as database testing (we have both SQL and NoSQL databases).
Have working experience with most of the following: application monitoring (we use Datadog), performance testing (we use K6), security testing (we use Burp Suite)
Have working experience in test automation for API and UI in Java and JavaScript
Have exposure to cloud technologies and can comprehend basic cloud-related conversation (we use GCP and Microsoft Azure).
Have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and are creative - to explain technical topics to a non-technical audience, to simplify but not over-simplify, to delight the customer.
Favor action and results rather than simply talk and produce slideware.
Enjoy a social gathering once in a while! We are a friendly group and enjoy bonding activities such as sport, escape room events and more.
NOTE: this is a hybrid role, for our Mississauga, Ontario EllisDon office.
