Responsibilities Installation: Install solar panels, racking, and electrical equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on solar systems Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair electrical problems Design: Design solar systems based on customer needs and site conditions Testing: Activate and test solar systems Connection: Connect solar panels to the electrical system Optimization: Optimize solar systems for performance Network integration: Integrate solar systems into networks Commissioning: Commission solar systems Skills Knowledge of electrical systems Good math skills Design skills and understanding Good attention to detail Analytical thinking skills Ability to work well with others Safe electrical wiring skills Job outlook Solar energy technician employment is expected to grow faster than average Solar power is becoming more cost effective and popular There is increasing awareness of climate change issues
