JOB SUMMARY:
Special Education Assistant will help implement special education or related services for a class and/or provide direct assistance to specific students. Other duties as assigned by school principal.
JOB DUTIES:
40% - Essential - Teaching and Learning:
Assists in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the facilitator and classroom teachers. Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the classroom teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.
Assists in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for the students and monitor their progress.
Implements, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts. Documents students daily activities.
30% - Essential - Support:
Provides support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities. Promotes good study habits and student independence for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes. Supports students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills. Models conversation, manners, clean up activities, listening, and everyday interactions for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner.
15% - Essential - Administrative Duties:
Assists in the preparation of student work. Assists teachers with preparing items to support teaching. Documents student's daily activities (e.g. behavior, completed assignments, on/off tasks times, etc.) for the purpose of completing daily logs and student's hourly activities.
15% - Essential - Collaboration:
Works with other professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists and physical therapists. Administers tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - High School or Equivalent
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - 1st Bachelor's Degree

Compensation Information
Anticipated Salary Range ($ 23,253.00- $40,000.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
Essential Personnel Level
Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
