Health NZ Nelson Marlborough is the main health provider for the Te Tau Ihu, the top of the south.

We are Nelson's and Marlborough's largest employer, supporting the health and wellbeing of over 150,000 citizens across the region.

Our main locations are Nelson and Wairau Hospitals, and the Richmond and Marlborough Health Hubs, but we are spread across the region and service all parts of the community.

As a Specialist Anaesthetist, you will join our team of nineteen experienced and supportive SMO colleagues and one ANZCA trainee.

You will be working within a secondary care setting, participating in the anaesthetic roster, covering planned care and acute theatre sessions, anaesthesia after-hours on call support, anaesthetic pre-assessment clinics, and working as the duty anaesthetist.

Collegiality and collaboration across all disciplines are key to our delivery of a successful service to our patients and our community.

A strong sense of community and belonging is reflected in everything we do.

Postgraduate fellowship training is desirable.

The salary for this position will be as per the current senior medical and dental officer collective agreement, dependent on skills, experience, and gaining full vocational registration in NZ.

You will also have access to up to 10 days CME Leave and an allowance to put towards your continued medical education.

The Nelson Marlborough region has a reputation as the Sunshine Capital of New Zealand.

There are three large national parks all within +0 minutes' drive.

All outdoor pursuits are catered for, providing opportunity for mountain biking, tramping, beach and water sports, and skiing.

The region is well known for its wineries, art, crafts, and relaxed lifestyle.

To succeed in this role, you should be a specialist who is ready to bring their skills and experience to a smaller provincial hospital and enjoy the lifestyle that this affords.

You will be vocationally registered with the NZ Medical Council and hold Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA), or equivalent, or be eligible for the same.
