Job Overview: As a Senior MS SQL Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's Microsoft SQL Server databases. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of these databases, enabling seamless data access for various applications and business operations. This role requires a deep understanding of database architecture, optimization, and troubleshooting to address complex challenges and support continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities:- Database Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server databases across multiple environments, including development, testing, and production. Performance Optimization: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively implement optimization strategies to ensure optimal system responsiveness and efficiency. Security Management: Implement and maintain robust security measures. to. protect sensitive data, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies. Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement effective backup and disaster recovery plans to safeguard data integrity and minimize downtime in case of emergencies or failures. Capacity Planning: Conduct regular capacity assessments to forecast future database growth and recommend necessary hardware and software upgrades. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve complex database issues, working closely with development and IT teams to identify root causes and implement appropriate solutions. Automation and Scripting: Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline routine database administration tasks and improve overall operational efficiency. Database Upgrades and Patching: Plan and execute database software upgrades and apply patches to ensure systems are up-to-date and secure. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and data analysts, to support database-related initiatives and projects. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices. Performance Monitoring: Set up and utilize monitoring tools to track database health and performance metrics, promptly addressing anomalies and potential issues. Compliance and Governance: Ensure databases comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal data governance policies. Qualifications and Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered. Proven experience as a Database Administrator, specifically with Microsoft SQL Server, at least 5 years at a mid-Sinor-level or above. Advanced knowledge of database concepts, SQL querying, and performance tuning. Expertise in configuring and maintaining SQL Server high availability solutions (e.g., Always-On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering). In-depth understanding of security practices and principles in database administration. Proficiency in database backup and recovery strategies. Familiarity with automation and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex database issues. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team environment. Preferred Qualifications:- Microsoft SQL Server certifications (e.g., MCSA: SQL Server, MCSE: Data Management and Analytics). Experience with cloud-based database solutions, such as Microsoft Azure SQL Database, AWS or near cloud. Familiarity with other database systems, like MySQL or Oracle. Knowledge of database-related DevOps practices and tools. Experience with performance monitoring and tuning tools (e.g., SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events).
