Responsibilities
The HR Generalist will have the opportunity to work strategically in addition to the tactical responsibilities of a Generalist
You will be integral part of the cultural changes that occur with the growth of talent and have a voice to implement plans and share your ideas!
The HR Generalist will be responsible for the employee population at SMI locations within their assigned zone
In this role, the HR Generalist will have responsibility for assuring appropriate levels of, or assisting others within HR with staffing, employee relations, benefits, training, employee engagement, compensation, and a wide variety of other HR generalist activities
Primary resource to zone employee's leaders with responsibility to provide direction and consultation in HR matters in the areas of recruitment, onboarding, retention, policy administration, workforce planning and development, performance management and compensation
Works with Corporate HR Team and Site Leadership to develop and administers various human resources plan
and procedures for all company personnel including personnel policies and procedures
Assists with monitoring multiple HR systems including corrective action documentation, rewards and recognition
system, performance development system, leaves, variable pay programs, relocation, talent development, employee training
Work with and assure understanding by managers and supervisors in areas of employment law, performance management, and professional development
Provide guidance to supervisors on issues of employee performance, development, or discipline
Assist Zone HR Business Partner to introduce and integrate acquisitions, roll out new programs and processes, conduct investigations, acquire temporary labor, capture and verify data used in analysis and more
Participates in keeping job descriptions up to date; conducting zone specific salary surveys and market information and works with the Corporate HR team to implement centralized functions and programs
Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws
Escalates legal and compliance matter as required within HR leadership hierarchy
Supports managers in the investigation and reporting of all work-related injuries/incidents
Manages work-related injuries in conjunction with an external administrator
Monitors and engages on training initiatives, requirements, and curriculum needs
Manages FMLA, STD, and LTD claims in coordination with SMI external administrators and HR Specialists
The Senior HR Generalist will guide employees represent both the employee and the company, assist with employee relations matters, performance management
Employee On-boarding/off-boarding/ Employee Engagement/Survey Implementation/Employee Initiative Reporting
Assist in organizing and processing employee movement/mobility within the organization
Conducts separation/exit meetings, analyzes data and identifies patterns & potential improvements
Oversees termination process, ensures proper notification of employee terminations internally and externally for compliance
Runs turnover, engagement, recruitment, workforce and other reports
Employee Relations - Partners HRBP to make recommendations to management team for corrective action & continuous improvement, responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment or discrimination
Participates in unemployment hearings
HR Policy Management - Partners with HRBP, CHRO, and functional HR leads to review, update, and communicate human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations
Assists in providing policy interpretation

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in human resources or business administration
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR certification preferred.
Experience:
• 4+ years of previous human resources experience
• Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
• Ability to self-start, prioritize competing needs, and deliver results with a sense of urgency.
