Job Overview
We are searching for a Senior Maintenance Mechanic to join our team! This position works under the general supervision of the Facilities/Maintenance Manager to diagnose, operate, repair, modify and install complex industrial equipment. This position ensures the equipment and the facilities are in proper working order to meet production needs. The role requires strong multitasking skills and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
The Senior Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for providing on-call service to the facility on weekends (Fri-Sun), rotating every 5 weeks. Typically, one on-call holiday per year is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Diagnose and repair equipment including but not limited to fill machines, labelers, cappers, traying machines, dry heat ovens, turntables, blister machines, blenders, dust collectors, freeze dryers, walk-in coolers, low temperature freezers, sterilizers, fermenters, bioreactors, tanks, air handler units, boilers, pumps and air compressors.
• Initiate and complete preventive maintenance requests on equipment.
• Maintain buildings including but not limited to roofs, doors, floors, and steam/air/water lines.
• Operate water room equipment, including carbon filters, water softeners, RO units, distillation units, tanks, pumps, and level/temperature controls.
• Operate central plant equipment such as boilers, chillers, circulation pumps, air compressors, air dryers, cooling towers, air handling units, exhaust fans, and building heating/cooling systems.
• Operate refrigeration systems, including walk-in freezers, chest freezers, drive-in coolers, air conditioning systems, and humidity control systems.
• Manage the building automation system (Trane Tracer).
• Perform daily inspections of refrigeration equipment and systems.
• Utilize the maintenance department’s document management system (Mainsaver).
• Install and modify equipment including installation of new equipment, modifying or updating existing equipment, removal of obsolete equipment, and ordering parts, supplies, and services for projects.
Education and/or Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years industrial mechanic experience. Supervisory skills preferred as this position has the potential for promotion to Maintenance Supervisor.
• Associate degree or technical diploma in one of the following: electrical, plumbing, mechanical, industrial maintenance preferred.
• Must be able to obtain a 1st Class Stationary Engineer License within the 1st year of employment.
• Universal Refrigeration certification preferred, but not required.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
• Strong ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
• Welding skills are preferred but not required.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) at an intermediate level.
• Capability to work both independently and in a team setting.
• Ability to follow written procedures.
• Consistently demonstrates attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Aseptic gowning technique training preferred, but not required (training will be provided).
Physical Demands
• Must be able to frequently lift and carry a minimum of 40 pounds.
• Walking, sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time.
• Must wear personal protective equipment as required including but not limited to hair, eye, face and foot protection and respirator.
• Ability to frequently bend at the waist and twist torso from side to side.
• Must have good hand-eye coordination and dexterity; ability to use hands to grasp or do fine manipulations.
• Must have a full range of motion in both arms.
• Must be comfortable climbing on top of and under machines and work in confined spaces.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
